Brighton schools go meat-free for spring term... and longer with your help

Schools in the Brighton area will be enjoying a Meat Free Monday throughout the spring term, thanks to support for the campaign from county hall.

Brighton & Hove City Council has teamed up with Chartwells Catering Company to go meat-free at the start of the week until 28 May. Fish is still on the menu, but it’s an important first step.

Even more importantly, they are canvassing opinions as to whether they should continue with the MFM scheme on a more permanent basis. You can show your support by emailing [email protected]

It’s hard to stress how vital it is for children to eat healthily, given the rise over recent years of childhood obesity, allergies, asthma and so on. Equally vital is the message we give them about where our food comes from, concepts of animal welfare, sustainability, healthy eating and environmental responsibility – and where better to learn this than at school?
