Meat Free Monday One day a week can make a world of difference

Festive menus for a meat free Christmas

Although Christmas does not fall on a Monday this year, many MFMers are opting for meat free festive food.

Posted : 17 December 2012

In some cultures the food at this time of year tends to be quite meat-heavy, so it’s reassuring to know that traditional meat dishes can be recreated using purely plant-based ingredients. Vegetarian “turkey” roasts, “ham” roasts, thick rich “meaty” gravies and sauces  – the options are vast! There are also loads of delicious dishes which are fresh and colourful and bring out the distinct textures, flavours and goodness of vegetables.

To give a helping hand, we have created a couple of meat free festive menus which include a starter, main and dessert to wow your guests…

Menu 1
Starter: Parsnip & Apple Soup
Main: Simple Nut Roast with Red Pepper Sauce
Dessert: Cocoa Raisin Balls

Menu 2
Starter: Aubergine and Mint Crostini
Main: Broccoli and Sage Pasta
Dessert: Sea Salt Chocolate Snaps

Happy meat free cooking and seasons greetings to all!
