Meat Free Monday One day a week can make a world of difference

Meat Free Monday in The Vegetarian

Thanks to our friends at the Vegetarian Society for this mention in the latest edition of their quarterly journal The Vegetarian. The Society marked National Vegetarian Week by writing to all 416 council leaders in the UK asking them to promote more meat-free days in their districts, counties and cities.

It really would be great if all our local councils and public sector institutions could have one meat free day a week. The public sector in the UK employs around 6 million people – think of the beneficial impact that would make on our CO2 emissions! We’d love to hear the news from any groups who are asking their local councils to go meat-free one day a week. Email us at [email protected] and let us know.

The Vegetarian Society article also mentioned our star-packed campaign launch in June. For those of you who haven’t yet read the ‘story behind the story’ of Meat Free Monday, see this article in the Telegraph.
