Ingredients

  • sheet of dried wholewheat noodles
  • a few stalks of broccoli
  • sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • pinch of dried chilli flakes
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ¼ lime
  • salt and pepper

Method

Bring a pan of salted water to the boil and cook the noodles according to the packet instructions.

Meanwhile, pan-fry the broccoli in a splash of sesame oil for a couple of minutes, then add the crushed garlic and chilli flakes. Fry for a furtherminute or two, then add the golden syrup, soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, a squeeze of lime juice, some cracked black pepper, and a tablespoon of the cooking water from the noodles.

Simmer for a couple of minutes then drain the noodles, add them to the pan, stir and serve.
